I have been playing through Elden Ring again recently, and I still think it is the best game ever made so far. It is a game that builds upon years of game development, and takes the best parts of a souls-like game (solid mechanics and fun boss fights) and an open world experience to create a truly enjoyable experience. Hidetaka Miyazaki has consistently made games that are of incredible quality and Elden Ring lets the player explore and play on a whole new scale. However, an argument for other similar games made by Miyazaki could be made, as the size of Elden Ring makes it harder to control the quality of each area. Dark Souls 1 was more refined and carefully curated, but I still enjoy the vast size of Elden Rings map and the feeling of exploring and adventuring in such a large fantasy world. It’s also a beautiful game with lots of cool and historically accurate weapon, armor, and architectural elements. Lots of fun, would recommend.
