Sweeney Todd

I recently rewatched the 2007 Musical and Horror Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. I’ve been a huge fan of the story of Sweeney Todd since I was a child because when my father was a high school teacher his school did Sweeney Todd for a play and that was when I was first introduced to it.
In the 2007 movie, the performances of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Alan Rickman are really great and they allow the humor of the drama to really read well. Helena Bonham Carter’s performance is especially comical at times but also hits the emotional notes necessary for us to sympathize with such monstrous characters.
Overall still love the movie, some really great sequences and catchy songs, good acting performances, and such a dramatic premise.
